PCI express compatibility

Go to solution Solved by Origami Cactus,

Yes, if the slot is PCI-Express, then all pcie cards will work.

If you have a pcie gen 1.0 16x slot, then that would be equivalent to a pcie 3.0 4x slot.

So you are not putting a 2080ti in it, but low-end and mid-range cards are fine.

I am in the process of building/upgrading my first pc. I have a HP pavilion streamline 3514.uk  with a PCI express 1.0 slot but the graphics cards that I’m looking at have PCI express 3.0 will these be compatible and any other recommendations for upgrading this pre-built

PCIe gen1? That's ancient. Upgrading it is pointless.
