No matter how you open a program, either on the desk top or from the metro (windows 8 start menu) it's just a shortcut to where the program is actually installed (in program files).  It's the same browser, it should use the internet the same way.

First Build:| Gigabyte 990FXa-UD3 | FX 8120 4.0Ghz | Coolermaster Seidon 240M | Asus Radeon HD 7870 | Kingston HyperX 3k 120GB SSD + WD Green 2TB HDD | Corsair RM750 | 8Gb Kingston HyperX 1866Mhz CL9| Fractal Define R4 White/Windowed |

Chrome should have a option to launch in modern UI in the top right hand corner.

I'm not sure where exactly as I have 7 on my computer now but I know it's in the drop down menu when you click on the customize and control google chrome menu.

I found it but that wasn't what i meant. I was on the desktop and they i clicked something and then it showed up open chrome *Somewhere*. If i open Chrome in the modern UI then it opens it one the desktop-.
