Hey Guys

I just bought an Intel Core i7-9700K, with 16GB 2666Mhz ram and a ASUS STRIX RTX 2070 OC card. It has 8 GB on it. I just need to know, or if somebody knows, if this machine is future proof for the next 4-5 years? My previous machine was a Intel Core i7-4970K, with 16GB 1333Mhz ram and a ASUS STRIX GTX 970. (This machine was 4 years old)

For what use case?

Web browsing, film viewing? Sure

Gaming at max presets at 1440p? No

Gaming at reasonable settings? Probably, we don't know

We still don't have a time machine, so kinda hard to tell.

I only see your reply if you @ me.

9700k is gonna be a mess in 4-5 years time because it only has 8 threads. It's fine on games now but as games start to take advantage of 8 cores 16 threads it's done for. The GPU is good enough for 5 years, but the CPU probably won't be particularly pleasant.

You should last 5 years but the last 2-3 years of those 5 years will include quite a few stutters I can imagine.

Currently 6/12 so as you say potentially (no time machines available yet) in 3-4 years 8/16 might be preferable
