Is it really required to buy both CPUs at the same time?

I wanted to build a dual CPU szstem but i can se that on ebay 1 cpu is mre comon and cheaper than a pair and i know people say buy a pair but if i was to buy both CPUs  seperatly what would happen?

But maybe consider if it's worth it. Ryzen 3900x and the future 3950x is also very capable and better value. :)

It depends on the CPU. If it’s dual Xeons, you may want to ensure they are matched pairs.
