MSI B450 Tomahawk vs Gigabyte B450 Aorus Elite

Hi all,

 

I was planning to get the MSI B450 Tomahawk for a new r5 2600 build, however I hve heard good things about the Aorus Elite, so I thought I'd create this post. Expected outcome: Tomahawk wins.

 

Pricing in germany:

Aorus Elite: ~€100

Tomahawk: ~€115

The Tomahawk has better VRMs for overclocking, but the Aorus Elite will do well too.

 

If you have the extra budget, I'd go for the Tomahawk, but the Aorus will work.

The Aorus is good for the price, but only if you don't mind a terrible overclocking UI and other annoying BIOS shortcomings. For the user who just sets XMP and leaves everything else, it's great, but if you want options, the tomahawk is worth it.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

How many watts do I need? ATX 3.0 & PCIe 5.0 spec, PSU misconceptions, protections explained, group reg is bad

The guys above have said everything already, but i just also want to add that because the VRMs on the Tomahawk are better, if you decided to upgrade with say a 3700x later, the tomahawk is a better choice. I have a 3700x running on a MSI B450 Pro Carbon AC...it has similar power delivery to the tomahawk and it is running beautifully. Gaming mode on, PBO enabled.
