Hi everyone,

So last Saturday I finally upgraded my ram from 8 to 16gb after almost a year.

I have ryzen 1600 and gigabyte ab350m gaming 3 Mobo.

The ram which I initially bought is a Adata 8gb, 3000mz Cl 16-18-18 ram. The new one which I bought is also 8gm, 3000mhz but the Cl is 16-20-20.

When I initially installed the ram it restarted a couple of time and then windows loaded. I went into task manager and saw 16gb but only 8 was usable and 8 was hardware reserve.

I shut down the pc and reinstalled bother the ram sticks. This time I swapped the slots. Turning on the pc and everything was working.

Did some stress test, ram test, experience d no crash, no blue screen nothing. I checked the bios to see what was different and the advance ram configuration shows the timing were different for both dimms. I assume swapping the raw caused the 16-18-18 ram to use 16-20-20 timings.

Almost 2 days of usage and everything is working. Just want to know if I am missing anything. Am I losing performance? Is it bad for the system? Can I tweak settings to gain more performance. Any suggestions or knowledge will really help me.

You should be fine but those timings are awfully loose. Real world performance will likely suffer a bit and be closer to 2400 cas 14

During my initial purchase i didn't know much about ram timing.

I used to think higher frequency ram will have better timing by default. Now i know that's not how it works.
