Hey guys, I’m building a computer for the first time. I’m trying to build a black and white computer that’s good for game development, animation and gaming. I’m still a student so my budget isn’t amazing, but I managed to scrap a little over $1500.

After I did some research I think found some good deals.

Here’s the build so far (Updated 08/15/19):

AMD Ryzen 7 3700X + Gigabyte X570 Aorus Pro WiFi (Bundled @ $549.98)

Noctua NH-D15S ($75.99)

G.Skill Trident Z Royal Silver 16gb DDR4 3200

($89.96) *purchased

Crucial P1 1 TB M.2-2280 NVME Solid State Drive  ($99.99 @ Amazon)

GIGABYTE GeForce RTX 2070 Super (White) ($549.99)

Phanteks Eclipse P600S White ($149.99)

EVGA SuperNOVA P2 650 W 80+ Platinum

($79.99) *purchased

https://www.newegg.com/evga-supernova-220-p2-0650-x1-650w/p/N82E16817438055

Total:  $1595.85   (Before tax and shipping)

What do you guys think of the build so far, any suggestions or problems?

Looks good to me, but the motherboard seems a bit overkill. You could probably drop down a tier there and get a 2060 Super/2070 Super or RX 5700 XT

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Desktop:

Intel Core i7-11700K | Noctua NH-D15S chromax.black | ASUS ROG Strix Z590-E Gaming WiFi  | 32 GB G.SKILL TridentZ 3200 MHz | ASUS TUF Gaming RTX 3080 | 1TB Samsung 980 Pro M.2 PCIe 4.0 SSD | 2TB WD Blue M.2 SATA SSD | Seasonic Focus GX-850 Fractal Design Meshify C Windows 10 Pro

Laptop:

HP Omen 15 | AMD Ryzen 7 5800H | 16 GB 3200 MHz | Nvidia RTX 3060 | 1 TB WD Black PCIe 3.0 SSD | 512 GB Micron PCIe 3.0 SSD | Windows 11

Dropping down a tier sounds like a pretty good idea, though I’m not sure what to swap the motherboard for.

I would probably swap the 2060 for a 2070 super.

Where are you finding a P2 650W 80+ Platinum psu for < $80?

Use pcpartpicker.com to assemble the list. It provides readers with important information like the number of memory sticks and timings.

I believe Trident Z memory modules will fit under a Dark Rock Pro 4. This would be a slightly more efficient cpu cooling solution. Another option would be to use the stock cpu cooler.

An ssd is required.

Some alternatives:

CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 3700X 3.6 GHz 8-Core Processor  ($329.00 @ B&H)

Memory: Corsair Vengeance LPX 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3200 Memory  ($84.99 @ Best Buy)
Storage: Crucial P1 1 TB M.2-2280 NVME Solid State Drive  ($99.99 @ Amazon)
Video Card: MSI GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER 8 GB VENTUS OC Video Card  ($509.99 @ B&H)

Why is SSD required? Also can my current ram fit with a noctua fan?

I prefer the the look of the noctua after I swap out the fan for black and use the chromax white covers.

...

SSD is required for optimal productivity. HDD are very slow compared to ssd.
