Its a kink :(

Hello ! I would like to know if this kind of damage would make this cpu cooler unusable . It was damaged in shipping and i am afraid after instaling it not to damage some other more expensive components . Are there gases or liquids in the heat pipes? Or a mixture of both as i read a bit today about air coolers . Do any of you know how to remedy this ? Cheers !

as long as there aren't any holes or punctures in the heat pipe, it shouldn't damage any other components. From the pictures, it looks like the copper is just bent without any punctures.

If so, it'll be fine to install, but if it was damaged in shipping, you might as well request a new one from the vendor/manufacturer

if thats an AMD stock cooler, contact AMD and tell them and have them send you a new one to be safe.

I believe there is some reaction going on in these heatpipes where gas turns liquid and back into gas.. but I am not exactly sure on that.

But as others said, contact the store you bought this at (or if they can't do anything , the product manufacturer) to get this cooler replaced.

Even if it's safe to use, it will likely still perform worse. (Although that would be an interesting test :P )

Send it back and ask for a new one. (Considering it’s a new one I suppose?)
