Buying first gaming laptop

Hello LTT people,

Hi huge LTT fan, tech link and tech quickie fan and love channel super fun, think Dennis is a classic and should never change, miss Berkel too and really appreciate what LTT do for us fans each and every day.

Anyway im a new member joined today Adam from Melbourne Australia and love gaming and going to buy a gaming pc next year, i currently game on 4K HDR samsung tv, xbox one X and PS4 Pro too and love it, but i am currently in the market for my first gaming laptop, its a birthday present.

Im in melbourne Australia does anyone know of any good pc shops to talk to about advice on what i should buy and how much to spend. I find it confusing with how many options there are for gaming laptops and desktops.

The games i would be playing on my laptop would be Role Playing, Racing games and the odd shooter and still would like to do internet stuff, youtube and some office type of work with laptop as well.

I am currently using a very old dell hand me down from my father, have a lenovo as well newer but have a black screen not sure how to fix it?

Been looking at jbhifi and scorptec computers and aftershock pc for gaming laptops, really need advice on how much i should spend, something nice looking nice keyboard, rgb lighting, nice display and performs well for the games i would like to play, do i upspeck as well with upgrading graphics cards etc. What would be a good budget? spend 2-3000 Australian dollars, alienware, dell laptops, MSI, asus etc. Any help would be much appreciated.

Thank you to Linus and the whole team huge fan and i have also learnt alot too and love how everyone gels really well at LTT and make incredible videos and i cant wait for channel super fun to come back and scrap yard wars too, also have donated on youtube a few times too. Will also get some merch soon too. Thank you sooooooooooooooooooooooooo much again LTT.

that's not really up to us, that up to you.

Do you need the portability of a laptop or just prefer the form factor? You do certainly pay a premium for a Laptop over a desktop, that's just the nature of the beast.

What screen size do you want?

Battery life?

does it need to be thin?

what would be the highest spec game you play and what FPS do you desire at what settings (would medium be ok? etc)

so i been looking around and i like the look of the Acer Predator triton 500 laptop and the lenovo legion Y740 17 laptop, the Razer blade are way to out of budget and msi stealth are rating pretty well too.
