I am planning on building a new gaming pc, and I found an Ebay selling with a Core i9-7980XE for under $20. Should I try and buy it or should I stay with a Core i7-9700k? I have a small 500w power supply with a 4+4 pin CPU connector and hear that the 7980XE can consume a lot of power. I would like to buy as few parts as possible with room for upgrading down the road. I do plan on gaming, streaming and recording at the same time, as well as running some productivity software. I can find a new power supply but I have one that can run fine with a lower CPU. Is there someone that can help me make the best choice?

Could you be more specific as to the model? Don't want to put a 9700k on a craptastic power supply.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 11 and Fedora Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

How many watts do I need?

I live on the Southeast Coast US. I would prefer to stay under $500 for a CPU, mobo, ram, and cooler. I always heard that Intel was best for gaming, but now with Ryzen 3000 series, I wasn't too sure. I need a microatx motherboard to fit in my case and I wanted to have sli capabilities
