Hi there

I'm getting confused researching on my own and dont want to make a mistaking.

Just want to find out

1) I have a Ryzen 2600X and looking for RAM. I am not overclocking, is B die necessary?

2) For purely gaming, will I see a difference on CL14 vs CL16?

3) Can I use a single module 16g or will I bottleneck the CPU?

 

I'm on a budget so the RAM I am looking at is HyperX Predator DDR4 RGB 3200Mhz 16GB

I currently have single module 8G 2666Mhz.

3. please dont, single channel memory on ryzen tanks performance. get a 2x8gb kit

1. Not so much an issue anymore, but i'd still recommend it.

2. Depends on the games, you can notice a difference (i personally wouldn't, but i play mostly turn based games, i have patience)

3. In any case, i'd always recommend a dual channel kit over a single stick.

Thanks for the response guys! Looks like I'll have to up my budget. Do I really need 16G for gaming or would 2X4G suffice?

2 2x4gb kits will be fine, if you have enough slots for ram ofc

Thanks. Will 2 separate 4Gig modules same brand, Same speed,  work with each other? Or do I need to buy them paired together as one pack?

8gb will be ok.. but more and more games are needing a lot more ram I would certainly got for a 16gb kit.

 

CAS 16 will be just fine at 3200 of course the faster the better but go with what you can afford.. I would say a 16gb Dual channel kit @ 3200 CAS 16 will more than enough for anything.  Look for non RGB ram if you some something a bit cheaper unless you want the flashy lights.
