problem with oc

Hello,

I bought a Noctua 120 mm fan and slapped it on my dark rock cpu colling, I have i7 7700k. My temps at 4,8 Ghz max load were around 74-78 C. When I went for 4,9 Ghz my temps went all the way to 97 C so I naturally went back to 4,8 Ghz. However when I did that my temps still were very high, 20 degrees more than last time. Why? Now even on 4,5-4,6 Ghz im getting 83 C. Pls help ❤️

I would try clearing your cmos -> loading optimized defaults -> applying them -> then re-overclocking it from scratch. A voltage offset may have gotten changed or load line setting and it might not have reset. At least that is my guess. I’m not an overclocking expert.
