USB ASIC on a lappy?

Is it safe to run a usb on a lappy? I know i will never make ROI or any decent coins.. I am just playing around with it and want to see if putting it on my laptop will be ok.. I know mining usually maxes out hardware and lappys are prone to overheating so I just want to be really sure before doing so heh

Anyway,

 

The point of the USB ASICs is to mine without needing big, expensive, power hungry GPUs. It will put minimal load onto your laptop.

 

I would be concerned about the power draw of the USB ASIC. You will probably need a powered USB hub to get it to work reliably.

I would be concerned about the power draw of the USB ASIC. You will probably need a powered USB hub to get it to work reliably.

As long as the notebook was decent, the ASIC would never draw more than the standard voltage for USB... unless it was REALLY cheaply made. :/ USB 3.0 has more amperage in the spec too, so there's that.

Yes, but if it cant get enough current then it isnt going to work. The voltage is fine, its just the 500mah of USB 2.0 that would cause issues.
