Hello there, my buddy just bought a prebuilt MSI codex 3 second hand, its only a couple of months old.

It came with a 250gb m.2 which is what the previous owner used. However, we wanted to use my buddys existing storage, and just have the m.2 act as an addition. Just to make it clear, we have transplanted the old drives to the new computer and want to boot from his sata ssd.

In the UEFI in the boot menu we can not see nor choose either of the old drives, we can see them under the "storage" menu however here we can not change which to boot from.

In the exit menu there is also a force boot option, but here again the drives do not show up.

My suspision is that msi has it locked down somehow, but i dont really see why theyd want to do that.

regards

Both the old sata ssd and the new m.2 have windows, its win10 on the new and win7 on the old

Plug only one drive.

The one you want to do the installation.
