So while doing the line method on my cpu my thermal paste ran out, leaving me with a little curve on was supposed to be a straight line. Seemed to be not a big deal. I plopped my cooler on and finished the build.

I booted up aida64 and my idle temps were 45c, and then i stressed cpu only. 57c was the max temp.

Then i stressed my fpu and cache and it immediately went up to 74c and is hanging around 78c then having jumps to 81c-84c at the 10 minute mark. Is this normal?

Cpu:R7 2700x no oc but i believe Core Performance boost is enabled

Cooler:Scythe Fuma Rev B

Sounds about normal to me. Keep in mind that aida64 is the worst case scenario for temps (it is a stress test after all) and ambient temps as well as case airflow will impact thermals.

This is well below max temps.  But not knowing your ambient temperatures and not entirely familiar with your particular cooler, it would be hard to judge.

But in my opinion, it might be a little on the high side.  But only a little.

Just for comparison sake, my AIO cools my 2700 with a mild overclock to 3.9ghz, 36C-38C on idle and about 72C max I've seen so far at this speed.  My ambient temperatures are usually in the mid to high 70s F.

Im pretty sure it was core performance boost. Without Core performance boost my temps dont go past 64c

Yeah it turned out to be Core performance boost. Without core performance boost temps arent past 64c and in cinebench its 62c after one run

Well yes disabling core performance boost would reduce thermals as you are essentially disabling cpu boost functionality. Which means the chip will not clock as high and subsequently will run at lower voltages.

I see, the voltages in bios are 1.35v-1.45v and seem to spike to 1.512v. I ran aida64 stressing everything and got a 86c temp at one point
