Gamers Nexus had a good video on which boards to reuse for Ryzen 3rd gen. In it they only suggest a few motherboards to reuse for Ryzen 9, your's is not on the list. The motherboard's VRM is going to be the main limitation going to a 12 and possibly a 16 core, you are most likely going to need a new board to keep that powered.

You most likely could, there was someone who tried a 12 core on the cheapest B350 he could find and it ran with no issues... now would it last long? Probably not.

But the thing is, if you don't overclock and you actually have a decent B450, as long as you have enough airflow you will be fine.

You could, but I personally would not recommend it.

The Gigabyte Aorus B450 M Looks like a 11-phase VRM, but in reality, it is just a 4(x2) + 3 setup -- not a true 8 + 3.

I would recommend that you consider a different motherboard, if you are going for a $500+ USD Processor, especially if you have ANY plans to overclock those 12 cores.
