RAM speed and type for Ryzen 3000

Hi All

I am looking into building a PC with a Ryzen 3000 processor but I would like to ask what RAM speed should be used. I know from the past generations the higher the frequency the better but how fast is enough so as not to waste money.

I plan to use this PC for gaming, productivity and basic video editing. I also would like to ask how important the CAS Latency is and which one I should choose based on that.

Thank you all for your time!!

3000mhz/3200mhz at CL15/CL16 is the current sweetspot in terms of price

Disregarding price, 3733 is the top speed for utilizing the 1:1 ratio for the Infinity Fabric.

best possible Ram is just a 3733mhz kit running at a s low timings as possible. so in other words an b-die kit from samsung or e-die from crucial binned and overclocked.

But is that necessary? the price gap to get such a stick is quite big when compared to the 3200

No, get the 3200MHz sticks.  I was just adding more info so you can make the decision.  I'd go as Golden said.

for both my new ryzen systems, I went with gskill ddr4 3200mhz CL14, samsung b-die's, running 3600mhz CL16-16-16 out of the box @ stock 1.35v. It was worth the additional price for me. Ryzen loves fast memory and scales very well performance wise. AMD has come out and said themselves that the sweet spot for Ryzen 3rd gen is ddr4 3600mhz CL16

At the minimum, I would get DDR4 3200mhz CL16 and because Ryzen is fussy about memory, i would check motherboard compatibiliity before purchase

Ryzen 3700x w/ Arctic Cooling 34 eSports DUO || MSI B450 Gaming Pro Carbon AC || GSkill DDR4 3200 CL14 @ 3600 16-16-16 || EVGA 2070 XC Gaming || WD Black 1T NVME, WD Black 2T 7200 rpm || EVGA SuperNova 750 G1+
