I like my desktop, but I am in a situation where I need a large screen on-the-go. So I just ordered a MSI GS70 and wanted to hear from people here: what are your thoughts on MSI's laptops, how have they treated you? Are there any things I should look out for (overheating? fragile? battery?)

just fyi, I'm not going to be doing much gaming, mostly just coding on this thing.

Also a separate question; most new laptops don't come with a windows cd, if i wanted to reinstall from scratch is there a way to put the os on a usb stick??? and i'm not looking for a way to recover factory settings, i want a clean windows install.

Thanks

I don't need it right away, but i usually 'clean up aka reinstall os' my school computers because i install a lot of software and mess with a lot of files that had caused problems in the past. so each term i like to start fresh :)

I have an MSI CX61 ( i7, 12gb ram and a gt645m) they are great prices. But they are very plasticy and cheap feeling. Ie, the screen bezel can be pulled away from the screen. BUT, they are great for the price spec wise. Also about your OS question...just get a windows 8/7 iso and use the windows download tool to make a bootable usb :)

I had a MSI GS70, and to say the least it was stunning. Had alot of performnace for the price and MSI makes good laptops. You can put an OS on a bootable flash drive but why do you need to do a fresh install of windows on it?

what utility would i use to put the os on a flash drive?

i hope this one is a little bit better as it is mostly aluminium

i edited my post to say which tool you use.

If your MSI is aluminium then it will be great, i love mine regardless of the build :P

Edit: just looked your laptop up, looks brill.

I want the new one...and the Lenovo y50.

I want that or the new MSI "secret weapon",which I think will be a 15" of the GS70 with updated Maxwell GPU.
