Posted July 25, 2019 Unlikely it will be bottlenecked by an overclocked i7 4790k. Perhaps some rare CPU-heavy games might see a slight drop in FPS but I doubt it will be noticeable. I think the question is "Would I run into a bottleneck if I replaced my 970 with a 2080 super". I think he knows it's technically possible to change out his 970 for a 2080 Processor: i7 7700k@Stock GPU: GTX 1080 MSI Armor OC Mobo: Asus Prime Z270-A RAM: Corsair LPX 16GB 3200 MHz CPU Cooler: be quiet! Posted July 25, 2019 Look, the 4790K is an approximately five year old CPU and the 2080 Super is a brand new top-of-the-line GPU. You're bound to run into some CPU limitations in newer games. If you have a 4k 60hz monitor there will be no cpu bottleneck whatsoever. If you have a 1080p 144hz monitor then yes, there will be some bottlenecking. That doesn't mean you can't upgrade to a 2080 or that you won't notice a difference compared to your 970. Posted July 25, 2019 If you're playing at 1080p or even 1440p, yes you'll run into a bottleneck. However it'll still likely be a substantial upgrade. I have a blog! And a list of guides I've posted
