Essentially I want to replace everything I have now except for the processor and the graphics card because I can't really afford to replace those right now.

This is the new stuff I'm planning on getting:

Case: Fractal Design R6 USB-C (white) -- my current case is actually broken and I wanted a new case that's white, has USB-C, and has a 5.25" bay. This checks all the boxes.

Motherboard: Gigabyte Aorus X570 Elite -- my motherboard has always had problems, so this is what I want to replace the most

Memory: Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro 16 GB 3200 MHz (2 x 8GB) (white) -- i'm going for a white theme and my current memory is slower, black and not RGB

CPU Cooler: Corsair H100i RGB Platinum SE  - right now I'm just using the stock AMD cooler!

PSU: Thermaltake Toughpower Grand 750W -- already own this; it's sitting in a box in my closet

Would it be okay to use my old processor, an AMD Ryzen 5 2600X, for now and plan on swapping it out for a 3000-series later?

Graphics-wise, I have an ASRock Phantom Gaming AMD Radeon RX 570--it works well. I may upgrade the graphics when I upgrade the processor. For now, I'm planning on re-using this. Also re-using my Corsair NVME SSD.

Does this sound okay? Say I want to upgrade the graphics card to NVIDIA--are there any problems with using an NVIDIA card on an AMD system?

there is NO reason to get x570 other than pcie4. if you arent getting a pcie4 ssd, then dont buy it. its a big waste.

not even the 2080ti can take advantage of pcie4 because it doesnt even support it

edit: than ram is overpriced but up to you

changing other stuff will barely give you any improvements...

(if the specs in your signature is true, nothing needed to change except gpu )

Sorry I added some notes to indicate that some of the stuff in my sig actually has issues (the case is broken, the motherboard has problems that I've posted about in the troubleshooting section, and the CPU cooler is noisy and doesn't seem to be all that effective).

So do you need X570 if you plan on using the 3000-series Ryzen? I plan getting a 3000-series eventually, just not right at this moment.

You don’t need it - but as you are upgrading your system you might as well.

Okay, thanks. For some reason I thought X570 was necessary for the 3000-series. But yes, I don't really want to do a "side-grade", X570 seems the next logical step up. Some of the ASRock boards are more affordable, but I'm wary of ASRock after the problems I've had with my current motherboard.

Also kind of hoping for a board with a front USB-C header, which the B450 boards don't have, but that's not a huge deal.
