A month ago I upgraded my GPU and PSU, 6 times since then I've had hard reboots. The first 3 times I I had XMP enabled but didn't have BSOD or critical error messages enabled. The 4th and 5th times I had XMP disabled as I thought it might be the problem, and I checked my voltages in hwinfo; nothing seemed out of the ordinary there as far as I could tell, and I enabled BSOD & critical error messages. The 6th time it happened I stopped being lazy and updated the graphics & chipset drivers, and the BIOS, all to the most recent releases. That was 3 days ago so I don't know if I feel confident enough to say the chipset & BIOS updates have helped, but I'm wondering if they actually could help with a problem like this?

Every time it hard rebooted was when I started loading a game (GTA 5, BF1, BF5), not even on any main menus and never during a game. All my framerates have been superb, temps are as you'd expect for both CPU and GPU, the system temp itself hasn't gone above 36ish when under load, and I've had no weird glitches or bugs at all that make me think it's the GPU. I did some very late night googling yesterday and found a few posts on various sites about overcurrent protection but unfortunately don't have any over/undercurrent options in my BIOS, so can't know for sure if it's something that can activate when there's no overcurrent happening. A few posts seemed to suggest changing the PCI Express 'Link State Power Management' from 'Moderate' to 'Off' can affect how overcurrent protection is activated on a PCI slot, but me dunno dat, me no smart enuf.

I did check the event viewer logs every time the reboot happened, all it shows is the critical error about the sudden reboot, a few information things, and a whole heap of ID 55 "Processor x in group x exposes the following" messages, which haven't appeared after normal reboots since updating the BIOS & chipset.

If it happens again should I just RMA my PSU, or is there something else I may have missed, something so obvious I can't see it?
