Best CPU supported & SLI

Hi,

I just purchased a used rig with the following specs:

CPU: Intel Core i5 3340
RAM: 8GB DDR3
GPU/Graphics Card: R9 380 2GB
Storage: 500GB HDD
Motherboard: Intel DH67VR
Power Supply: Corsair VS450w
Case: Nox Nxforte

I would like to know what's the best CPU to put in it, whether SLI/Crossfire is supported, and if so, what would the best option for it be?

Thanks.

dont bother. you dont get any extra from dualcards. you only get problems.

Out of curiosity, what did you pay for this?

psu is of real bad quality.

as for CPU maybe a i7 2700k or a Xeon cpu.

forget SLI. It’s dead.

Intel says these are supported : https://www.intel.com/content/dam/support/us/en/documents/boardsandkits/desktop-boards/DH67VR.pdf

But obviously board supports 3rd gen cpus as well, and the page above lists only 2nd gen and other previous cpus as far as I can see.

In fact the release notes for the latest BIOS say support for 3rd series is added in the most 2-3 recent bioses. You can get the latest bios here if interested : https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/28273/BIOS-Update-BLH6710H-86A-

The release note at the bottom of page says added support for 3rd gen.

So probably most of the 3xxx processors are supported... a list is here: http://www.cpu-world.com/Sockets/Socket 1155 (LGA1155).html

The fastest would probably 3770 (with S or K or without anything) but it's debatable if it's worth the cost. 2700k mentioned above is close enough in performance

How much do you have to spend?

Also, is the VS PSU a greylabel one?
