No boot after enabling xmp

XMP is hit or miss 90% of the time in my experience. if im not wrong dual channel still report half the speed and you multply that by 2 

So I just got my new build up and running and have been attempting to get the ram frequency higher. I went into the bios and enabled xmp after that there was no boot and i had to clear the cmos to get it to start. I have also attempted just manually selecting  a higher clock speed which also resulted in having to clear the cmos. according to cpu z its running at 1066mhz and it is in duel Chanel. I just doing something wrong or is there something else I can do to get my ram frequency  higher.  Here is a list of the buid

Ah ok I wound up going in and just manually setting it to 3200 and it worked!
