Out of Ideas... Can't Install Windows 10??

So put build together last night. Everything running well. Went to install windows 10 with usb drive. Freezes every time on gettings files ready... I've literally tried everything I can think of. Usb boot drive, dvd boot disc (worked on past comps), using single stick of ram in different slots, secure boot off, uefi/legacy settings, only using usb 2.0, instead of using ssd tried with hdd.

 

Nothing works and it always freezes on this same part. Im about to just start rma'ing everything because im3coming up on 30 days with certain parts I ordered like the RAM. Any ideas? Ive spent 6 hours googling this and trying to fix it... At a loss for words lol

Did you also try installing Windows onto the SSD/HDD with the help of a different PC and then plug the drive back into your rig?

 

If that doesn't work, give Windows 8.1 a shot or even some Linux distro.

I can't install windows on my ssd with other computer, no slot on the mobo for it. I could try with the hdd but that kind of defeats the point because the ssd was supposed to be os drive.

 

Why try win 8 if I have no intention of using it?

you can still upgrade win8 to win10

Maybe you failed the settings with the boot drive properly? Did you try setting it up using Rufus? Made a boot drive using it like a month ago and worked just fine, link to the program https://rufus.ie/

Sounds like there might be an issue with the ISO. Have you tried downloading a fresh copy and creating a new boot USB?

Yes I originally created it with windows media creation tool or whatever it's called. Then when that didnt work i formatted it and put the iso on with rufus. I also tried a disc ive used in past to instal windows, that also froze.

Not the usb or disc. The disc is a completely different iso I have used successfully on many computers in the past.

I mean I guess. It doesn't really help me get an os onto the ssd though. So even if it did work, it'd just be a bandaid. Going to have to start rma'ing stuff today if I cant figure it out.

Do you have another SSD lying around which you can just pop in this new system to see if you can install windows in there?

Well I've tried with my new ssd and new hdd. Same thing happens. Guess I have to rma the cpu, ram, and mobo lol. Not going to do one part at a time. I've spent forever googling this and trying whatever I could to get past it

if you know the usb installer works on other pcs it may really be a hardware issue.. in that case i'd say start RMAing it before it is too late.

I only have one option left. Someone said to q flash the bios. I'll try that. If it doesn't work RMA time. Have a feeling it's the mobo... First time buying gigabyte and won't buy gigabyte again if that's the case. Thanks for your help!

I agree. Based on everything I'm now suspecting the mb might be bad. Best to rma while you can and get some new hardware

The outer box of the mobo wasnt even sealed... Not sure if that's anything. It was sealed in the anti static bag and looked new though.

usually even when you go to a brick and mortar store, motherboard boxes aren't sealed (at least in my country) it is just sealed in the anti static bag

Jesus, finally got it to work. Posting from the new build right now :) Thanks everyone took me about 8 hours to figure it all out. Ending up needing the BIOS flashed to F9. Found that suggestion while digging through a lot of forums.
