Core clock drops on a clock

My FX8350 with some heatsink on top of it drops from the usual 4 GHz to 1.38 GHz under load, my fps then also drops to about 4. The strange thing about it is that it runs like a clock, exactly 2 minutes of normal clock speed/fps and then exactly 30 seconds of the drop.

 

I followed a guide on how to turn off power saving mode by running the processor at 100% at all times and it changed nothing. I have found no other solutions to this problem anywhere else.

 

I went to check the BIOS and there is nothing unusual there other than the HPC mode which is supposed to stop this from happening but, after I exited the BIOS without changing anything and not even saving, my cpu core clocks then fluctuated until I restarted the PC.

 

Is this just part and parcel of living with an AMD cpu or is there anything I can do to fix this that doesnt require spending min. 300€ on a new CPU and motherboard and RAM because the PC part manufacturers are a ruthless cartel and keep changing the cpu slot while not improwing the performance meanwhile the GPU has had the same slot for 40 years and they keep making better ones.

Open the case and blow the internal with a desk fan. See if the throttling still happens

no idea what you mean by "the internal" but i have cleaned both the PC and my internal demons just the other day, no difference. Both the throttling and the voices are still present.

the internals = the insides of the case

 

Also I'm suggesting your fans dont work well enough for cooling, hence the desk fan. Cleaning them dont always solve the issue

 

You could also try BIOS updates, sometimes Windows breaks system by needed new microcode. What board is this?

the fans are spinning so fast i cant even see them. Yes, I know there is enough dust there to make de_dust3, I tried, would buy more canned air if it helped, it doesnt.

 

The board is in the tags, also on my profile.

 

For the BIOS update, there is one, released a whole one and nineteen more months after the og, the one i have but, it says its in Beta. Should I still get it?

otherwise you could see if removing the overclock helps. After all this is a 4 phase VRM powering an FX 8 core.

Who else see's a 8350 being mentioned and we all want to say get Ryzen and get off that platform!

It's because your temperature is hitting 65C which is the limit for those CPUs. I'd say try replacing the thermal paste if you haven't replaced it in a while.
