WH1000MX3 Winter issue

I want to buy a pair of these but I hear a lot of these just stopped working during cold. I live in Toronto and want to use them during my commute so the headphones being useless for 4-5 months is kind of a deal breaker. Does anyone with these pair of headphones know if this has been fixed or not?
