IIS timed out?

When i try to play a video i get this error " Failed to load resource: net::ERR_CONNECTION_TIMED_OUT"

But works perfectly when one of my friends visits the site it just does not play locally.

Like the video does not load or play.

Software: Microsoft IIS

Works perfectly with images, Only issue is getting it to play videos.

I'm not sure. The program seems to be called IIS.

Can you visit any other websites? Sounds like a Firewall or Policy issue.

Fine you want the PSU tier list? Have the PSU tier list: https://linustechtips.com/main/topic/1116640-psu-tier-list-40-rev-103/

I can visit other website. The issue is my hosted site.

It does not let me play content locally but when i visit the .mp4  in another network it works perfectly.

So you're hosting a website locally that has a video on it, and if you try to play it from your local network it doesn't work, but if someone else plays it from outside your local network, it works?

Why not just upload to Youtube and embed the video that way? hosting the actual video on the site takes up extra space on the device hosting the site and is more difficult to play back.

Didn't realize this was a localhosting issue. My knowledge stops there so I'll pass on commenting to those with more experience. Don't want to share incorrect info. :)

When it plays the video, is the URL using an IP address, localhost, or a DNS name? Timeout means what it sounds like, it tried to reach the resource and couldn't.

Is the IIS website bound 0.0.0.0 or a specific IP?

  • 4 weeks later...

Mp4 is just example add mime types for all your video types

There is better technology for this, specially for streaming video. This includes encoding in different bitrates and indexing.

Not all movie files have indexes at beginning of the movie file. You can re-encode to move mov atom at beginning without losing quality see

https://stackoverflow.com/questions/8061798/post-processing-in-ffmpeg-to-move-moov-atom-in-mp4-files-qt-faststart

That will allow file to play without being completely downloaded
