Which laptop?

Hi everyone

So after requesting to return my new gaming laptop due to it running pathetically hot, I have decided I am going to get a cheaper laptop and take my pc for any extensive tasks and gaming at university

I am wondering what this cheap laptop could be. Budget is around 500 pounds but it can be higher if it's from the brand Website as I get 10 percent student discount at Dell and hp.

I was thinking the new Dell inspiron 5000 15 inch with an i5 and ssd but I'm not sure what other laptops are good as I'm not too clued up on them.

Also I'm not sure if it's worth waiting as the 9th generation of U processors are rumoured to be coming.

Many thanks

500 pounds? That's quite low for a new model

Any other requirements?

It's closer to 600 before the discount. And now that I'm not gaming on it no. Just a general PC for working and lectures. I might do some light photo editing but that's it.

Please ignore my last reply I have managed to increase my budget to 700 pounds

For Dell and hp I get student discount from their sites

And at currys PC world i get discount as a friend works there so could your suggestions be from one of these please.

There's a few laptops catching my eye

There is a Dell Inspiron 15 7000 with an i5 and mx150 that looks decent.

I also really like the look of the Huawei mate book it's just the lack of ports and their bad press which is putting me off that one.

It will be used for watching videos, lectures and documents, some light photo editing.

I'd like it to be averagely loud but not too loud if possible and to have an SSD and maybe even a HDD too but that's not the end of the world as I have an external one.

I appreciate you taking the time to look

Pro

Edit: Theres a usb c hub I can get so that isnt an issue, I am based in the UK just so you know as the huawei press isn't as bad here
