what is the RX5700?

Octavialicious

Hi there, I've been kind of out of the loop. I kinda dipped before the RTX cards dropped. I'm returning to PC building and I'm trying to find which GPU to get, but what is this card? I've seen a bunch of stuff about RTX, but I never see this card mentioned. For the price it looks super good, similar to a Vega 56/64. Is it bad? Why does no one talk about it? Is it basically a rebranded vega? Is it still super hot or is it more tame?

Thanks for the help, just kinda confused.  Besides this it seems if I dont care about raytracing, might be worth to get a GTX 10xx card or a Vega card for 4K gaming for the value? Thanks a bunch

Because everyone is waiting for the aftermarket model to come next month.

Price/performance is great currently. Software is still kinda buggy but AMD will fix in few more releases imo.

No one talking about it?  It's been the basis for review videos on YouTube for the past week solid.  Plus people are recommending it here all day every day.

Watch a few more videos to get an idea where it lands, performance-wise.

Blower coolers are optimal for small cases where there's a lack of an exhaust. GPUs would otherwise dump their heat into the case and build up.

If you have good intake/exhaust then using an AIB partner card would let you run your fans at lower RPMs and still exhaust the heat. The partner models are scheduled for release mid august.

It's also worth noting that under-volting the default voltage reduces the temperature/power usage much like Vega 56/64. The card itself has decent OC headroom.

The reference 5700, not so much. The reference 5700xt, oh yeah itll overheat, then kick on its fan at full speed and be on the edge of thermal throttling. Gamers Nexus did a half hour video testing thermals, acoustics, etc.
