If you're willing to spin up a server on your own amazon will lend an small EC2 instance for free for the first year. Or if you have a spare computer you could set it up as a server and only be out the cost of electricity, or possibly even have a virtual machine on your main rig running the web page. But on the latter two you also have to worry about having good security between the web server and your home network.

I'm currently using a free EC2 instance and it is getting the job done. Though I haven't completely opened it to the public. So I don't know how it would do under load.

My rig: 2600k(4.2 GHz) w/ Cooler Master hyper 212+, Gigabyte Z68-UD3H-B3, Powercolor 7870 xt(1100/1500) w/AIO mod,

8GB DDR3 1600, 120GB Kingston HyperX 3K SSD, 1TB Seagate, Antec earthwatts 430, NZXT H2

Verified max overclock, just for kicks: http://valid.canardpc.com/show_oc.php?id=2609399

You will either need to host a web server yourself or find a host for your content. I actually hosted my own site for awhile using XAMPP, which is just a simple WAMP stack, and http://noip.com domain to point to my ip. Like Floger0 mentioned though this will require you to have some knowledge about security.

I currently use DigitalOcean to host my website. They are great, it's a VPS that requires you to know some linux command line, but they have great community written tutorials and it can be a great learning experience. I also recently found http://koding.com and it seems pretty cool.

You can host static pages for free on Github, Dropbox, or Google Drive (look up how to). You'll need to pay for a domain name though (the URL).

you can use free hosting services, such as http://en.altervista.org/

you will have a second level domain under altervista (fat-babies.altervista.org) but hey, it's free, it's easy, it's good, it's got MySQL, php and some little little storage, if you just want to show a bunch of experiments to your friends or to the world, it will get the job done

edit: i just checked, fat-babies.altervista.org is still available, if you hurry you can have it
