AMD Plex Transcoding

I am currently putting together a plex streaming server and i have an old ATI 5870 lying around, as far as i know this card still works and i was wondering if i could use this for transcoding, i have researched this a little and have come across nothing that says it can't be done, yet many times i have seen somebody recommend an Nvidia card for transcoding with Plex, is anyone using an AMD card at all? if so please let me know

Unless something has changed very recently, Plex doesn't support using AMD-cards at all for transcoding.
