New Linux Disciple Help !

Good news guys , i decided to try Linux for the first time ! ( well in a dual boot with windows 8.1 ) I'm a complete beginner at this and have a few questions .

 

Which one ? ( one for a beginner please )

How to dual boot it ?

Is it ok on a laptop ?

 

Specs :

Asus branded

i3-2350m 2.3ghz

intel hd 3000/ nvidia gt610

750GB hdd

 

I heard mint is a good one ?

Try out Ubuntu, it'll be fine on a laptop.

 

I don't know how to dual boot in though

 Use Ubuntu and select the option "Install alongside windows 8.1" when you install it.

Would it work with a USB 3.0 drive , i don't have any other ones
