4u case + psu

I am new to rack servers

I am thinking o buying this from here

and for SATA drives, I will need this? from here? do I just get 2, connect them to the backplane and the sata to the mobo?

so for PSU in the website (link above), it says

Quote

Frame for ATX PSUs (fixed) and redundant 4U-PSU

Adapter for 2U-PSU + optional 80mm fan bracket

so I guess it supports atx, 2u and 4u psus?

it will be an r9 3900x or r7 3700x system that will be online 24/7 i have never bought server psus and i have no idea what to buy

I buy my stuff from www.amazon.de

Why this case? 8 disk bays in a 4U chassis is really not that good, 16 or 24 is more common and doesn't/shouldn't cost more even if you don't require that many.

Yes this is the correct cable for backplane to motherboard SATA.

Have a look at these as see that you think:

Rosewill RSV-L4412

Rosewill RSV-L4500

Edit: Also the other 3U/4U chassis with more bays from inter-tech.

Honestly, 190 euro feels like A LOT for a regular 4U server case.

This being said, yes those seem like the cables you would need to use.

You could use a regular ATX power supply, should be able to screw it to the case without any issue.

You should consider maybe the 3U model, the Inter-Tech 3098-S : https://www.amazon.de/INTER-TECH-3U-3098-S-integrierter-Luftfilter-19Zoll/dp/B00W8XK8NG/

It's only 100 euro... You could screw the hard drives directly inside and use regular SATA cables, or you could use single bay 5.25" to 3.5" bay adapters or these 2 x 5.25" -> 3x3.5" adapters : https://www.amazon.com/Kingwin-Enclosure-Internal-Backplane-Optimized/dp/B01BMJ1Y3O/

examples of single bay :

https://www.amazon.com/ORICO-1106SS-Trayless-Internal-adapter/dp/B0093FINMU/

can only find the rsv-l4500 but it doesn't ship to cyprus

the other inter-tech case with more for around the same price is the 4U 4410

this looks good but i can't find it from amazon.de

How many drives are we talking about? Does it have to be hotswappable with front access to the drives?

Because like mariushm said, it may be cheaper to buy a cheap rack case and fill it with hotswap bays, it depends on the amount of drives. (I filled my 3U-3098-S with 2 of these)

All Inter-tech cases (except 1U) support normal atx power supplies so if you buy a high quality atx psu that is very reliable that is fine too, you don't really need a server psu.
