Gonna be rough - you can probably sell the 8350k for $100, and the 1050 for $75-100.

That gives you a budget of around $575-600.

Pick up a 1660 ti for $275, and a 9600k for $250 or an 8700k for $350.

What is the  performance difference between the 8700k and the 9700k and is it worth the extra $100

personal opinion:

minimal. no.

but rn it looks like there's a $20 difference between them. i'd get the 9700k i guess.

either way if you plan on any realistic overclocks, you'll need to get a better cooler.

that 120 aio isn't going to do well on an 8700k at anything past 1.3v unless you delid it, and it will probably be at the limit on the 9700k at stock settings.

another option if you don't wanna OC: get an i7-8700 non-k. The 120mm aio will cool it fine, and it will stay at 4.3ghz all day long (same behavior as stock 8700k). you could even get maybe another 150 or so mhz out of it with a bclk oc.

And I’m sorry it is a 240mm radiator  with 2 120mm fans

What voltage are you at?

My son has an i3-8350k and at 1.35v it holds 4.8ghz with a very modest cooler and temps aren't an issue.

1.25v? what is your ambient temp? 50c idle is really hot dude; maybe your cooler isn't on right
