Hello,

I have an issue with my 1-year old pc. I have a i7 8700K CPU, 16 GB Corsair 3200 MHz memory (CMK16GX4M2D3200C16),Aorus Z390 pro Wi-Fi motherboard, this is a replacement, before I got an ASUS Z370 E, Gigabyte GTX1070 Ti.

I start from the beginning:

With the original motherboard I started to have BSOD at start-up, with approx. 5 different error codes. Mostly Memory management. These are occurred only at the first start at the morning, in five-month time. I got the BSOD 2-3 times during gameplay within this period. I tried to rebuild my PC, I changed memory slots, used only 1 memory, windows reinstallation. Nothing helped.

I took my PC to a shop, where after 2 days of troubleshooting, it is 99% Motherboard. They claim that they tried a different ssd, memory, and video card. They had the same issue.

I got a brand new Z390 motherboard last week. I put it together. New windows. After two days I got a BSOD again at a cold start-up, and another one at the next day. (Both memory management) Since then I just put it in sleep during the night and it comes back on without any problem.

Is anyone have a clue what is the problem can be?
Because the ram, motherboard, and video card are tested, is there any chance that this is the CPU?

Thank you in advance!

This is the weirdest issue.. but at this point it is likely the CPU, but don't rule out the RAM yet, I suggest trying another set of RAM before deciding it's the CPU, I had 2 bad RAM sticks in a row, purchased separately months in between, so it's not unusual

over tightening a cooler can cause these issues too btw

Last night I had memtest86 running for 10 hours with no errors at all. I will try to swap memsticks with my friend, because I just looked my motherboard approved memory list and mine isn't on it. The ones what my friend has are on, so I will give it a go.

You might try undervolting or over volting your CPU, it may just be a low quality chip. Also make sure you are using the timing your ram is clocked at, sometimes XMPs arent accurate enough. I doubt that PC repair shop knew what they were doing, process of elimination always works.

Hello Tackett,

Can you please explain these a little bit more detailed. Thank you!

Hi, same issue as OP, would untightening the cooler help or could it have damaged the mobo? I loosened it quite a bit and there's no visible warping or cracks

You could try reseating the CPU as well and inspect the pins on the socket
