So here's my story :

I want t build a mid range gaming pc, was thinking of core i5-9400f/ GTX 1660/ MSI tomahawk z390

Then the Ryzen 3rd gen cpu new line is released, So the R5 2600X is cheaper ithink!

i just need someone to tell what to go with and why ?

Conclusion:

Intel i5-9400 or AMD Ryzen 5 2600X

Best Regard.

AMD!

Now lets tell me why:
PURE gaming performance is a little bit better on the i5 side of things. But with ANYTHING else Ryzen is considerably faster. Also mobs should be a little cheaper to get. When going Ryzen, do you still plan getting a 1660? Then you won't notice the CPU difference in gaming much. But as I said earlier: In everything else Ryzen is just faster ;:)

When it comes to heavy graphics gaming (ex: candy crush, solitaire ) xD Just kidding.

(GTA V, Black ops 4, Battlefield, AC: Origins, etc)

is it worth it to get the R5 2600X or i5-9400f?

R5, because this is even less CPU bound.

Also: you won't notice the difference between AMD and Intel in gaming anyway. Its minor when not using super high end GPUs.

And ilke I said on EVERYTHING ELSE the AMD blows the Intel chip out of the water (and the platform cost is cheaper)

it is, as longs as you don't want to OC much or have the need for much storage etc. But just for gaming and doing "normal" pc stuf -> fine :)

Suggestion: check out ram speed benchmarks for your Ryzen. There is sort of a sweet spot for the most performance/$$

i will only add an m2 120gb or more and a normal ssd of 1tb

for the ram i will go 3K Mhz

should replace the cpu stock fan?

Storage/ Ram: nice!

Fan: Depends, the stock cooler for the R5s is quite good. When willing to OC or wanting a really silent experience you need something better. But idd suggest trying the stock one. When you feel like you want more silence and/or want to do some OC (wich I don't suggest with that board anyway) you can still get some better cooler (I highly recommend Noctua here).

Okay i understand. But if possible you should try get the 50$ difference between 2600x and 3600. The IPC increase and higher clockspeeds are amazing. 3600 4.0 ghz vs 2600x 4.0 ghz the 3600 is as promised 15% faster.

Yeah and if you even wait a month or so there might even be a mobo cpu bundle which will be abit cheaper.
