hey guys my dad needs a new desktop. its just a normal desktop but I want him to have a nice experience using it and and I want it to be able to do anything so I don't go "we didn't get a graphics card so cant" sort of thing. Its gonna mostly be used for admin stuff though for the next year until he retires after that who knows.

the isnt really a budget but the isnt need to spend all i can.

if you could give me some recommendations for good parts id appreciate it.

this is my current idea of a build for him expect replace the cpu with the 3000 version. he will move his ssd and his hard drive from his old pc to his new one so those arnt needed.

This is a monster of an ADMIN pc.  Is he ever going to game on it?  Use it for some workflow that requires a GPU?  Why not cut your budget in half and buy a 2200G?

i want him to be able to use it for whatever he wants. he retires in a year and I dont have a clue what he will do with it after that and i dont wanna come up to him like "we cant do that cause i didnt plan for it a year ago"

I got ya, but why spend money on all that when you can upgrade the system later?

He can do work on a 2200G/b450 now and down the road, you can buy a new CPU/GPU when you know what the system will be used for.

Stick with the 2700 or the 3xxx equivalent. There is no point in getting a low-end cpu for someone on the understanding that it can always be upgraded when needed. This approach demands that the end user get frustrated with low performance before things can change. Besides, I suspect those that think "admin work" is not cpu demanding have never worked with complex Excel spreadsheets commonly found in most offices.

I would suggest a different case and psu. You could save a bit by sticking with the stock cpu cooler. By all accounts it will do a decent job and allow a reasonable overclock.

You could go with the Nzxt H510 (non i) or, if you can't find it the H500 (also non i). The reviews I've read suggest that the "smarts" in the i versions do not really make a difference. The H510 has a USB Type-C port on the front panel.

You might consider instead the Corsair 275R. Or, if budget permits the Fractal Design Meshify S2.

The build only needs a 550W psu. At the moment Corsair - RMx (2018) 650 W is actually less expensive than the 550W version. Makes it an excellent deal. The RMx is a better psu than the G750H.

80+ ratings certify electrical efficiency. Not quality.
