New loop for 9900k

I'm looking to put together my first custom loop next month, and wanted a sanity check before I start ordering.

Here're the bits I'm looking at,

EK Velocity D-RGB Nickel Plexi - https://www.pccasegear.com/products/44977/ek-velocity-d-rgb-cpu-waterblock-nickel-plexi

EK XRES 100 DDC - https://www.pccasegear.com/products/33664/ek-xres-100-ddc-3-2-pwm-elite-pump-reservoir-combo

EK ACF 10/13 - https://www.pccasegear.com/products/32390/ek-acf-10-13mm-compression-fitting-black

EK DuraClear - https://www.pccasegear.com/products/37377/ek-duraclear-3-8id-1-2od-tubing-3m

EK CoolStream XE 360 - https://www.pccasegear.com/products/45450/ek-coolstream-xe-360-triple-radiator

EK CoolStream CE 280 - https://www.pccasegear.com/products/32794/ek-coolstream-ce-280-dual-radiator

EK CryoFuel - https://www.pccasegear.com/products/44294/ek-cryofuel-solid-scarlet-red-premix-1000ml

I'm planning on adding a GPU at some point, assuming the 9900k can stay cool during this coming Aussie summer.

Are there any other shops you can buy from?

I would replace coolant with Mayhem Pastel, EK tubing is somewhat fishy from what I have heard, Hardware labs radiators, bigger res (as that equals easier filling and extra sex appeal).

Still, thick 360 and medium thicknes 280 rads will cool the 9900k nicely, you just have to keep your ambient temperature in check

Ex-EX build: Liquidfy C+... R.I.P.

Ex-build:

Meshify C – sold

Ryzen 5 1600x @4.0 GHz/1.4V – sold

Gigabyte X370 Aorus Gaming K7 – sold

Corsair Vengeance LPX 2x8 GB @3200 Mhz – sold

Alpenfoehn Brocken 3 Black Edition – it's somewhere

Sapphire Vega 56 Pulse – ded

Intel SSD 660p 1TB – sold

be Quiet! Straight Power 11 750w – sold

It is compatible. I would personally consider the following:

- D5 pump over DDC, the noise is supposedly non-comparable

- Transparent fluid over pastels

- Temperature sensor for measuring fluid temps and controlling fan speed accordingly.

- Ball valve and T-splitter for a drain port.

The XE and CE radiators from EKWB are good performers, and so in my opinion do not need to changed.

8 fittings needed for now, 10 when you put in your GPU.

There is cplonline.com.au, they have mostly Thermaltake stuff.

Also ple.com.au, which has a bit of everything.

Is Thermaltake tubing better?

As for pump/res, you'd recommend EK XRES 140 Revo D5 then https://www.pccasegear.com/products/40357/ek-xres-140-revo-d5-pwm-pump-reservoir-combo

Why transparent over pastel?

Do you have recommendations for such a sensor?

I was planning on just replacing the tubing along with coolant every year.

I don't know australian retailers, but something like this would be easy to incoorporate into a loop. https://www.alphacool.com/shop/neue-produkte/21455/alphacool-eiszapfen-temperatursensor-g1/4-ig/ig-mit-ag-adapter-deep-black

If you have an Asus or MSI (Ithink) board, there is a 2-pin temperature header which can be read by the BIOS to control fans, very useful stuff.

D5 pump looks good.

Transparent coolants are more defined and has less potential of falling out, although having said that if you are intending to do yearly changes of both coolant and tubing then I would think that you'd be fine given your loop components. Your choice with this regard.

I'll look into if anyone stocks it. If not I'll ship it.

MSI z390m gaming edge ac. I don't see any temp sensor header, and the manual doesn't list it as far as I can tell.

Ok. Thanks for your help.

Looks like this motherboard doesn't have a 2-pin sensor, which means the temp sensor itself is rather pointless in this case. You can get ones that have a visual output, but not sure if any output a PWM signal for example for fan control....I guess you can live without one :)

I run the exactly the same pump mate, it's good.

As for the sensors, Australia doesn't seem to bother to sell G¼ inline or plug 10kΩ couplers, only G¼ couplers hooked up to LCD temperature displays.  I bought my two overseas (Phobya G¼ M/F inline sensors) from Performance PCs but there is also Mod My Mods and Frozen CPU.  Newegg Australia list BitsPower G¼ plug sensors although these appear to ship from an international seller in Asia.

Also note that you will need something that can actually read these sensors (and you have stated your motherboard doesn't have a sensor header) to be at all useful, exert some control over the fans (and possibly pump) within your case. I use Corsair's Commander Pro for that purpose (in fact I use two) to control all fans in my case based of the coolant temperature.

You can get Barrow 10k sensors from  mydiyau's ebay store.

https://www.vipc.com.au. has them as well, but looks like they are out of stock  at the moment.
