You'll need what @Lord Mirdalan said, only connect with XLR's if you get a balanced dac as there is no point in converting between single ended and balanced.

Main speaker setup is now;

Mini DSP SHD Studio -> 2x Mola Mola Tambaqui DAC's (fed by AES/EBU, one feeds the left sub and main, the other feeds the right side) -> 2x Neumann KH420 + 2x Neumann KH870

(Having a totally seperate DAC for each channel is game changing for sound quality)

Also, enjoy the new speakers :) youll enjoy them much more than the logitechs. Especially with the 8 inch woofers and the proper tweeters.

Actually, one user reported switching to XLR cables with RCA at one end, then connected to a 3.2mm to RCA adapter cured a high pitched whine in the speakers. I'm using a similar setup with my JBL monitors and sub with a Dragonfly Red DAC.

Still really isnt a point if there isnt an issue like this. It will still be a signal ended signal, not balanced.

Considering how much work and expense it was going to be to buy and route the cables if there was a problem, I sure as heck didn't want to take a chance on having to do it all over again. A high frequency whine is a frequent complaint for this series of speakers so I didn't want to take a chance on having to waste money and time (and blowing out my old back) having to redo everything. I got my XLR cables, etc. from Monoprice at a reasonable price (I've never had a problem with Monoprice cables over the years).

Monoprice do make brilliant stuff for the price. There is a use case for converting to XLR's in some not-so-common instances, such as long cable runs, as XLR's generally have better shielding.
