Motherboard advice needed, Last time

Ok so I've gotten a lot of information from you beautiful people, so with the info that you've gaven me I've come to the conclusion that this is the best motherboard for my current components.

And if you don't want to click the link, this is a MSI Pro Series Intel Z270-A Crossfire ATX motherboard.

 

My current specs that this motherboard needs to be compatible with is:

Core i7-7700k 3.60GHz

MSI GTX 1060 3gb

16GB of DDR4 Ram

 

And the specs I wish to upgrade to in the near future:

(Same CPU)

RTX 2060 or GTX 1070ti

64gb Corsair Vengeance RGB (this should work)

and Corsair H60 Liquid cooler

No worries. It looks good, except the CPU cooler. It'll work, but I'd choose a good air cooler over a 120mm AIO.

 

Similar price, better fan:

So the motherboard will work with all of the components listed right? like the i7-7700k and GTX 1060, and be compatable with a near future upgrade of 64gb of ram and RTX 2060 or GTX 1070ti?

Yes, those are all compatible. The component in question is your power supply - what are you currently running?

im not sure as this was originally a pre-built, probably some generic thing but I don't know how to see the wattage

Should say on the label. If it's a prebuilt system, you should be able to see it by opening the side panel.

 

Wattage isn't your only concern, you'll also need the appropriate PCIe power connectors.

 

 

Both  the RTX 2060 and GTX 1070ti need a single 8-pin PCIe power connector. Looks like this:

It should just be on the side of the power supply itself. Look for a sticker.

If it came with a prebuilt, it could be kinda bad, depends on what kinda prebuilt we're talking about.

And im currently looking for the connector, and I do not see a label on the side so ill have to take it appart, and all I see is two 6-pin connectors and a 2pin

Yes! Hence the nomenclature 6+2 pin power connector. You just squidge them together, and it's off to the races!

I dug through the internet, looks like the model he’s got has a 500W PSU. Couldn’t find any other specs than that.

Yep... @cso we could use some help there.

 

One thing tho is that the prebuilt link he put up brings up a system with a locked 7700...I wonder if OP knows this or if he upgraded to a 7700K? @Lord Mirdalan

yes just like that, and it is indeed the same case I have, and I felt like it would have been a 500w power supply because it allows OC'ing, and if it isn't powerful enough I can always buy a new PSU when I do upgrade GPU's

Well ok so heres the deal, im new to hardware (im a software developer and pentester)  so I don't know too much about hardware, so what I could find out is that 7700 non-k's couldn't be overclocked, but 7700k's can, and mine is overclockable, so I got confused and yeah

But yes, it doesn't say 7700K, just says 7700 but I thought that it was a 7700k due to the overclocking feature in the bios, so sorry about that confusion
