It is fine up to overclocked 3900x, but the 3950x is recommended to leave at stock settings.

The 3600x will be absolutely fine, overclocked or not.

The tomahawk supports bios flashback, so you can update the bios without a cpu, meaning that you can update the bios, and then insert the 3600x.

Overall it is a decent board.

Hello all,

I am here to gather opinions on the MSI B450 Tomahawk, as this has appealed to me as a possible MoBo for a planned build. One question I have is will it be compatible with Zen 2 (r5 3600)? I know that I will probably have to update the bios, any specific way to do that? All general thoughts about the Tomahawk are appreciated.

Thanks,

Catchears

Have the mATX versions, it's a good board with plenty of features. The Tomahawk has a slightly better VRM so should be good for the new chips, except for perhaps the 16 core version when overclocked.
