CPU always running at 100%

Hello, so long story short I have been PC gaming for just over a year and a half now. When I built my first gaming PC I had a i5-8400 and what I noticed from the start was my CPU was always running at 100% even when the PC was first booted up. I decided not to long ago to upgrade my processor and motherboard so now I have a i7-7700k. Thinking this would fix my problem I booted into windows and low and behold my CPU usage was still at 100% all the time! I have tried to look up fixes to this problem however I have had no luck. I will post a screenshot in this thread to show you guys what exactly it looks like. Any help would be appreciated :)

Well for one.. 56% is being used by windows defender smart screen.. that doesn’t sound right at all.

 

it also seems you have heaps of background processes running. Do you need all these running or can you terminate a few?

Im not to sure, because I know it isnt just windows defender, every time i end the task, my CPU usage will still stay at 100% and then another task such as cosair service for example will take up 40% if not more..

This happened on my wifes laptop and it was windows update causing the cpu to be at 100%. Idk if this is your situation or not but I’d go in to settings/update and check for a update
