Hello

 

Key points 

-slow samba transfer speed (45MB/s read) via gigabit link

-internal HDD via sata3 on gets 110MB/S see image below 

-internal HDD is formatted as etx4

So I just got my USB 3.0 to gigabit adapter and in samba I'm noticing on 45MB/s read and  30-40MB/s write. This speed is ok but nowhere near gigabit speeds of 100+MB/s. I say that because by router can only handle 867Mbits via wifi. Btw results don't improve via Ethernet just more stable. Why is this so, I ran Sudo hdparm and it shows I'm getting 110MB/s to the local drive which I'm sharing via samba? Socketoptions maybe?

Btw I am struggling to get perms for a second user on Ubuntu to the internal disk. The user can't see any data and it says it has no permission to view contents. See my other topic in regard to this issue

What adapter did you get?
