I've been holding off getting a tablet as they mostly seem to be way overpriced and under preforming pieces of junk...  But I would like something for reading comics/manga/books.

So is there anything that:

Is under $100.

Has 512 GB storage or over with SD expansion slot available.

Is around the 10 inch size class.

Has good to decent color reproduction.

And isn't horrendously slow and clunky.

Preferably running nearly naked android without a bunch of bloatware.

Don't care about it having a sim... I don't plan on ever giving it one or using it away from wifi... and if I did... well that's why I want all the storage so I can have a whole library of reading material loaded up on it.  To me anything over $100 too much to be spending on something that will only ever be used to display images and internet. A specialized tablet for drawing I can understand... but these 200-300 hundred or more glorified e-readers with pitiful storage capacities just don't make any sense to me.

No, 512GB flash storage itself costs more than 100 bucks.

Under 100 bucks it's all junk.

You either need to up your budget, go 2nd hand or get something that will be junk.

If you want something decent, be prepared to spend at least 150 bucks, probably more around 200.

If you want my attention, quote meh! D: or just stick an @samcool55 in your post :3

about the only think that seems to be close I find on Amazon is this https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01FH9RGRS/ref=cm_sw_r_tw_dp_U_x_jvrgDb54M5Q9R

Looks like I'll have to give up on the internal storage... which means I'll be spending money on an SD card to expand it which makes the price all the more important.  Why spend more to be forced to spend even more to make up for its lack of a key feature?

I also know nothing about this maker...

Argh! dang it! This line in the description invalidates this an an option: Extend Card Support TF/SD card Max 64GB

Ok revised preferences

I still don't want to pay that much for such a thing... but I might do so despite my better judgment.

I was going to suggest a Fire HD 10, but... well, software (although it is Amazon, so you know Comixology will play nicely with it).

The tricky bit is that the tablet market is generally split between two categories: really cheap devices that are basically glorified Netflix viewers, and higher-end (not necessarily high-end) devices that are general-purpose.

One question: how big is your comic collection?  I ask since I can't imagine most issues being very large, and you could have hundreds of comics on a 32GB device.

If it were my money I'd get an iPad, if just because it has a better app ecosystem, a quality display and quick performance, but it does start at $329 for 32GB -- you'd really want the 128GB model to not worry about how many books you can store locally.  If you prefer Android, the Galaxy Tab S5e would have a very nice display and microSD expansion, but it's $399.

yeah... there's at least one app I'd have to side load if I went with the Fire HD...  If it weren't such a hassle it might work.  But things like Kindle books and Comixology should work properly at least.  It deserves further consideration.
