First time pc build need feedback.

Hi my name is Arne, i am looking to build a pc myself. Currently i am looking at parts wich i will order around end august/begin september. I did a good amount of research but i would like a second opinion and maybe someone that can double check if all the parts fit/work together. (i looked this up myself but since this is my first time i am very unsure) Any ideas or things you would change on what i have are always welcome. I am looking to play 4k - 60fps games and also vr in the future when i have money again :P.

List of components:

  • CORSAIR OBSIDIAN 500D RGB SE
  • Intel Core i9 9900K
  • Corsair Hydro Series H150i Pro RGB
  • Gigabyte Z390 AORUS Ultra
  • Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro 16GB DDR4 DIMM 3200 Mhz/16 (2x8GB) Black x2
  • Samsung 970 EVO PLUS M.2 1TB
  • Seagate Barracuda Pro 4TB
  • MSI GeForce RTX 2080 GAMING X TRIO 8G
  • Corsair RM850x 80+ Gold

Thank you for you're time

Okay, what is your budget? Because by that time, ryzen 3000 would've changed the market completely. Do you have to go Intel?

Wait to make a parts list. By then, many new parts will be available

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 10 and Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

How many watts do I needATX 3.0 & PCIe 5.0 spec, PSU misconceptions, protections explainedgroup reg is bad

Agree with @fasauceome here. Also, could you please use pc part picker? It will be easier for viewing.

My dad just put together his 9900k system with Aorus Elite motherboard and G SKILL 3200+ with a Dark Rock Pro 4.  On first take it turned on and we went to BIOS and it showed 30c.  However 9900k chips get hot so I ran Aida64 and in about 1 or 2 minutes couple cores are at 82c.  Is this because the fans on the heatsink are not speeding up to combat the heat.  They spin really slow right now and I think I have to go to BIOS and set curve for my dad.  Perhaps the fans were spinning very slow and that is why it went to 82c instantly.  A 90 dollar cooler and 82c just doesn't make sense.

As for you wanting to get a 9900k;  I wouldn't do it unless your a extreme Intel fanboy.  The new Zen 2 Ryzen is coming out in 11 days.  Their 500 dollar processor is 12 cores 24 threads.  Also rumor has it single core performance on par with the 9900k.  The 12 core Ryzen will slaughter the 9900k thanks to having 4 more cores and 8 threads more in total.  Where the 9900k will choke the AMD has another 8 threads to work with.  Then in September their releasing the Ryzen 3950x which is 16 cores 32 threads and that will eat the 9980XE like cake and not to mention the 9900k will get whacked hard when you have 8 more cores and 16 more to work with.  Everything looks good on your build.  My dad made a build similar to yours and hes happy, but honestly it is a fact a 8 core 9900k can NOT compete with a 16 core AMD.  End of Story.  Now you either wait and blow your wad on the 9900k and feel like shit on July 7th.  hehe.

Holy Moly 2400 US dollar is soo much.  People build 9900k systems for under 1000 US dollar.  My dad did just couple days ago.  9900k and all that jazz.

If you really ready to spend 2400 dollar on a Rig then I highly recommend you go all out.  Wait, as after summer the ThreadRipper comes out.  32c 64t and 64c 128t.

The price will be around 1600 US dollars.  Then RAM is 180 bucks for 32GB unless you wanna pay 350 to 400 and get 64GB ram.  I have no idea if you will need it as I don't know what you do behind your PC.  If you play games and just watch videos and surf and do normal things people do then TR is out of the question.  TR is for people working with HT apps like Adobe apps like PS and Premiere,, AutoCAD, 3D Studio Max, Maya or a DAW.  If you don't use any of the following then forget ThreadRipper.  Just get a 12 core in 10 days for 500 dollars same price as 9900k but you get 4c 8t more and rumor has it its single core performance is on par with the 9900k and what not.

As for motherboard, DEF,,, grab the Gigabyte Z390 Aorus Elite which my old man has.  Great motherboard hes enjoying his 9900k as we speak.

For that money i won't get less than a 2080ti.

@Turtle Rig I disagree with 2485 is too much for a 9900k system. I think it makes sense if he wants to fit in other better components.

I said it cost my old man 1100 dollars.  But he reeps he has 2400 to spend which is why I told him about ThreadRipper.  But if he doesn't use hardcore HT apps then forget ThreadRipper.  Also the Intel HEDT is 2000 for 18 cores.  The 16 core coming in September will destroy Intels HEDT.  18 cores or 32 cores you make the call!

Well Boinbo good post, that is a good question.  We have no idea what the OP does ?  Does he just surf the net watch videos and play games and do normal pc stuff I would get the 8 core 16T variant.  Games wont even use all those 8 cores plus the HT threads.  The only way I will recommend a ThreadRipper is if he does something hard core.  Like I previously said things like Photoshop, Premiere, Illustrator, AutoCAD, 3D Studio Max, Maya or DAW then TR is for him, but I don't think he uses any of these apps.  No need for a massive core count like 12c or 16c or 32c TR.  He will do good with a 8 core Zen 2 and what not.

Nice post man, thanks for your input.  His build looks excepetional.  But fact I can build a 9900k for 500 cpu 90 RAM and 170 for Aorus Elite.  There you go 760 bucks.  But this is assuming he doesn't have a case or ssd or PSU or video card.  I already have pretty much everything I need.  I just need 3 parts,, CPU ram and MOBO and Im set.
