My computer is pretty old now, built it in 2013, my processors a I5-3570k with the stock cooler, I was ready & hyped to upgrade to a I7-9700k, but with AMD coming out with new processors, it’s making me second question, as well because of what Intels response could be to those, same with amd and nvidia. So I’m sure the answer is pretty obvious what I should do, but I want some affirmation just to make sure, if that’s alright.

wait a couple weeks and see how well zen 2 does, if it competes well then consider a zen 2 CPU with an MSI B450 board or so.

I have to agree with this. It seems the new Ryzens beat even the i9 9900K in performance while costing only a fraction of that, so definitely a good idea to wait and buy one of those instead.

Wait for the new AMD CPUs or alternatively consider finding a used 3770k.

For the most part, unless ur aiming for 120FPS+ or doing production work, a 2nd gen i series Hyperthreaded CPU or better is still more than capable for todays gaming.

Im still using a Sandybridge E CPU with an OC and since im not aiming for above 120FPS its plenty for gaming even now almost 8 years after its release. Thats not to say there isnt a significant difference in performance now, but its a difference that only really matters as you aim for higher and higher FPS numbers where CPU speed starts to show.
