Memory Overclocking Problems.

So I had a thread about another problem, and then I managed to fix that, but now I'm trying to overclock my RAM and it's not going the greatest, and it's apparently not that stable either? I had it set to 2800, it worked for a bit, restarted to take some screenshots of my bios settings. reset, and it took several reboots ( err, what I mean here is the PC turned on and off during the process of restarting ) so far it's only done this when the OC didn't take, and my RAM went back to 2133. I've been trying to get it to 3200 ( the rated speed for the RAM ) Link here; https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07BH1CQVQ/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Now the problem arises I have screenshots of 2800 MHz, 1.28V if memory serves. Then rebooted, and bada bing bada boom, it's down to 2133 MHz, same 1.28V. Now I've rebooted again, and now it's back to 2800, I'm so lost and some guidance would be appreciated. I've never OC'd RAM before, and it's annoying. Lol

Perhaps increase voltage? I used to run at 1.4v, got my 2400mhz kit to 3200

Are you using the XMP or DOHCP profile of your mobo (and does your mobo support that speed of ram - doesn't have to but that helps) for that RAM?

I'd say 1.5V memory voltage max. Not because you might break the stick, but the IMC

@Jurrunio@Tristerin@Firewrath9 Well that's the funny part. I've had it up to 1.36Volts and even then it sometimes wouldn't even take to 2400, and i've never gotten it to 2800 while at anything above 1.28 I've tried XMP before, but I never really got it to go over 2400. I just don't know what kind of tolerance these sticks have. And I don't wanna brick them.

@Jurrunio@Tristerin@Firewrath9 Update: So I upped voltage to 1.45V, and I couldn't even get to 2933. I tried XMP, as well as the memory try it, and just a normal manual OC. nothings working. Any advice?

What motherboard?  My B450 supports 2933, Ryzen 7 1700 supports 2667mhz, but I am able to achieve 3600mhz on that board

 

My B350 board supports 2667mhz and the R7 1700 in it supports 2667mhz, but I am able to achieve 3200mhz on that board

What about the memory timings? Make the primary timings as high as possible first.

Update the bios? Or else it's just terribly picky memory controller in the CPU and you cant do much.

@Jurrunio I havn't updated bios cuase we gets storms here so randomly. or the power just cuts out now and then. I don't wanna risk bricking my board. I might risk it soon though I dunno.

Well if simply using the XMP profile fails then I would be suspicious of which RAM slots you've installed in.  Did you use the slots the manual instructed?

@nick name I've swapped the ram around a few times already. I couldn't OC them at all the other way. in A2 and B2 ( currently in A1/B1

What does the manual say to use?

I just checked and the manual says to use A2 and B2.  So the red slots.

Oof.  Is the board new?

@nick name It was about a year and a half ago. I'll try it again. later. I'll let you know how it goes later. But the thing is it said like 4/5 gigs was reserved for VRAM?

@nick name Alright RAM is back to A2/B2, but now my first problem is back, I'm down to 7.9 gigs of ram, with 8.1 in reserve. And now I can't overclock it at all again. Is it because there's so much in reserve?
