What has your luck been with unsupported monitors?

 

Does it matter?

Well, I bought a FreeSync monitor right around the time Nvidia announced the G-Sync Compatible option (I have a 1080Ti) and while there were some issues on the first firmware because it was a brand-new model, it actually got officially certified by Nvidia later and the experience is pretty much flawless so I think I'm quite lucky.

Though from I've seen from most reviewers, a vast majority of FreeSync monitors work fine with Nvidia cards in terms of VRR. Just make sure to buy a monitor with good FreeSync range and support for LFC.

Monitors with good Freesync implementation are good on both nVidia and AMD.

 

Uncertified monitors that also have terrible Freesync implementation will be bad at either nVidia or AMD.

 

Bottom line is that as long as you bought a solid product it will work fine.

Haven’t tried it as I don’t like 1440, but my free sync now shows g sync compatible. Gpu driver doesn’t get updated often, so not sure when the change happened.

 

May give it a try one of these long weekends.
