Looking for a barebone laptop that I can add hardware too

So I am looking for a bare bones laptop that I can upgrade over a couple months (I don't want to spend 2,000$ all at once, I want to spend 600$ Initially then 200-350$ every month on components).

What I would like it to support.

  • Dual MXM Slots
  • 120-144hz Display
  • Bios Voltage Control

If it can beat this Alienware M17x benchmark (After getting Good mxm Gpu and cpu) then I will be happy. I will have at most 600$ for the barebone system (EG: Everything but cpu/gpu/ram/hdd/optical drive). I am willing to purchase used devices.
The more I can upgrade it the better. (I would take a device that comes with little to no Ram, but can be upgraded to 64gb. Over one that comes with 16gb but is maxed)

My current laptop (CPU-Z) is decent for the 250$ I paid 5 years ago.

Does anyone have any suggestions? Currently I am looking to get my hands on an Alienware M17x, However I have been having trouble finding one.

Honestly wouldn't really recommend this path. Bare bones laptops aren't really a thing. CPUs are not socketed on anything except the top of the line laptops, good luck finding a laptop that has an MXM slot that isn't already populated, and dual MXM is basically non-existent. Just save your money until you can buy an actual laptop, because there just isn't a market for custom built laptops.

I mean I understand that its not "standard". But that really doesn't help me at all. Is there a list of laptops that have dual mxm ports and use a socketed cpu, I can look through, So I can at least start looking for used ones?
