One basic setup is to get a splitter cable for the output from your GPU. Run one to your monitor and the other to a video capture card.

The type of system you need depends on your framerate and quality. But you don't need much to capture 1080p at 60fps especially if you have a dedicated capture card.

This is pretty much it.  Except the capture card won't take any load off of the render PC, it just captures the video.  Also, you won't need a "splitter" cable if you get a capture card with no latency eg Elgato HD60 Pro.

Hi everyone, so I've been streaming on Twitch for a while now and I'm interested in improving my streaming setup all the time. Something that's always been a bit of a problem is the framerate drop in game when streaming. I've done some research and a lot of streamers have a 2 PC setup for streaming, so 1 for the stream and 1 to game on, this way you don't have any fps drop. I'm really interested in this and I would be buying a new PC for this if you guys could help me. My question is does anyone know what kind of a PC I need for this, my current PC has a 1080ti and i7 7700k with 32GB of RAM, does the second PC need to have anything close to that or what do I have to look for? Also is it difficult to set this up?

Thank you

Rendering PC needs to have rendering power. So no, it does not need to be as good as your current, like it doesn't nessessarily needs beastly GPU for just encoding on CPU. But that being said, you shouldn't have any issues on current system either.
